We have REOPENED for altered hours!
You can visit us in the shop on the following hours: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 10am-3pm and Saturdays 10am-5pm. We hope to increase these hours in the near future, please check our social media for updates.
Things are a little different in store. We’re limiting the number of customers in the shop at once, asking you to sanitise hands before touching anything in the shop (80% WHO formula alcohol hand sanitiser is provided) and asking that you don’t wear gloves (as gloves are not inherently clean, and sanitised hands are much safer) or sanitise the gloves if you need to wear them. We’re cleaning the shop even more regularly including regular discontamination of the counter, card machine, door handles and other high-touch areas and we have our lovely curved screen at the till to keep us and you as safe as possible whilst shopping with us.
We are still OPEN VIRTUALLY too! You can shop with us online: www.imaginedthings.co.uk/shop which shows most of our in-store book stock, plus some extras. You can also email us on email@example.com for book orders to collect or be delivered (we can still get a massive amount of what’s in print, usually within a few days to a week).
We’re pleased that our book supply has improved and we’re able open our doors again. Our thoughts do remain with all those affected by the virus and all those on the front line saving lives. We are working in accordance with government guidelines and doing all we can to make things as safe as possible. Amazing thanks to all who have shopped with us during lockdown – your support has helped so much and I am infinitley grateful we can post books! We’re delighted to be open both physically and virtually and any purchases made are HUGELY appreciated both before and during lockdown, and now as lockdown starts to ease. We look forward to being able to offer our usual service again soon, but for now here’s what you need to know…
We are still accepting orders for all items on the website, though there are special conditions attached to our Book Subscriptions (please see below). The following applies to all other products except book subscriptions, which are covered in their own separate section below. All items refers to all items except book subscriptions.
All items on the website are in stock in our bookshop. We will post out the books within 3 days via Royal Mail (though it’s often the same or next day). We will endevour to contact you if there is a delay.
Royal Mail are endevouring to maintain their service, though there have been some significant delays this now seems much improved, and most parcels are getting through within 4-7 days. Though do be aware it could be longer. Please see Royal Mail pages for updates on their service. During this unprecidented time most deliveries are taking longer than pre-pandemic timescales due to staff absences, increased demand and the restrictions. If you are waiting on a delivery please do contact us and we can advise if we can provide any further information. Your patience and understanding whilst waiting on deliveries would be much appreciated at this time.
We will drop off books ourselves if you live in very close vicinity of the shop if we are able to do do. We are still happy to drop books off to those who aren’t able to shop with us, so please do get in touch to see if we can deliver to you for free.
We are offering free collection on all books that can be bought online with us, and we could bring the books out to your car at the back of the arcade so you don’t have to enter the shop. Please do speak to us to arrange this.
Requests for Books
If you require a book we don’t have in stock on the website, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let us know of any books you require and we can respond to let you know the availability and cost of the book including its delivery. Book supply is still affected by the virus, but is largely recovered and we can now get many books to us (& you!) much more quickly. We are struggling to reply to emails promptly due to short staffing (just Georgia right now!) so please call 01423 391301 during opening hours if you would like a quicker response. Most emails are answered within 3-5 days, and we’re working on reducing this. We hope to be back to replying promptly as soon as possible. Please do email if possible rather than message on social media as we’re not always aware of messages waiting on social media channels.
Book Orders Before We Closed
If you know your book order arrived before we closed the shop and you didn’t have chance to collect it, please contact us or call in. If you’re unsure if you’re book is with us please call ahead.
Our old shop vouchers could only be redeemed in-store (as they don’t have unique codes attached). If your voucher is due to expire, fear not, we are extending the redemption period on all expired vouchers that expired from March 2020 onwards. They will be valid for an extra three months starting at the end of lockdown. So once we’re able to open again you’ll have three months to spend your voucher with us. If you are still not able to come to the shop due to shielding or other mitigating circumstances please contact us and we’ll be happy to help with this.
We are able to sell new coded vouchers via email if you would like to purchase them as a gift we can send them via email to you and they can be used to order via email or in the shop when we reopen. The codes will not be accepted directly through the website presently.
National Book Tokens
We can accept book token payments via email. Please contact us if you wish to spend your book tokens on books purchased with us. Please contact us prior to purchase.
If you wish to purchase book tokens from us we are unable to post them due to the risk of them being lost. We can drop them off to addresses within close vicitnity of the shop, so if this applies please contact us. If not please see the National Book Tokens website for purchasing.
New Book Subscriptions
We are able to send out book subscriptions again. Any new subscriptions purchased will be sent out as usual – if the questionnaire is recieved on or before the 19th of the month the first book will be sent around the 1st of the following month. If recieved after the 19th it will be sent out on the first of the month after next. Any queries about this please contact us. If lockdown or other restrictions limit either our supply of books or our ability to get them to you this may affect when the books are recived. We will endevour to keep you updated if this happens.
Exisitng Book Subscriptions
Thank you to all of our wonderful subscribers. We’re very sorry for needing to delay the book subscription service. Now our book supply has resumed we are posting them out again. You should recieve a parcel in the first two weeks of July. We will also be posting out more than one book to you (unless the book due is the last of your subscription). Then the subscriptions will proceed as usual from August onwards. If there was to be any further lockdown restrictions or other limitations this may affect the subscriptions, but we will do everything we can to prevent any further delay.
All events are cancelled for the forseeable future, with no current plans to rearrange them due to the unpredictable nature of the current situation.
