In September 2017 we were incredibly honoured to win the Pan Macmillan Indie Innovation Award for our Little Dragons’ Project. We won £1750 for innovation! The pictures opposite show Georgia (our owner) receiving the award at the Booksellers’ Association Conference. This award has made it possible for us to set up the Little Dragons’ Reading Adventure and most importantly to put Dragon Libraries into schools, with the vast majority of the money being spent on over 200 books for local schools. Huge, huge thank you to Pan Macmillan for making this possible. We very much hope this will just be the start and we can continually expand the project and get more books into schools, which can only ever be a wonderful thing!

How It All Started!
Dragon Libraries
As part of our Little Dragons’ Project we put hundreds of books into local primary schools. We’re truly passionate about young readers and think all children should have access to lots of books! We placed four Dragon Libraries into local Harrogate Primary Schools, meaning more books for local children to enjoy.
If you own a company, or know of a company who agree with our ethos of getting lots of books into the hands of little readers – we’ll be launching our corporate sponsorship of more Dragon Libraries in 2024, with more information to follow. Little Dragons Project! Dragons are real you know! One lives at Imagined Things!
They need to feed off words & imagined worlds, they need them for their wings!
They listen carefully all day long…They need to hear lots of stories to keep them strong!
They like to stay hidden & they are very small, if you read lots you can help them all!
The shop is named to encapsulate the power of imagined things. Just because something is imagined does not mean it isn’t valuable or powerful. In fact imagined things by their very nature can stretch our imaginations, show us new truths and make us see the real world differently. Dragons embody the very nature of Imagined Things as they are imagined creatures. Our Imagined Things mascot is our dragon Fable. She helps us to look after the books, and being around so many help to keep her strong! So it felt very fitting to base our project around dragons. Plus who doesn’t love dragons?!
Our First Corporate Sponsor!
Thanks to local safety firm Professional Safety Services we’re expanding our Little Dragons’ Project! With their funding we’ll be putting hundreds of extra books into local primary schools! We’re delighted that Professional Safety Services value reading as part of their social value efforts in the local community, and we’re looking forward to working with them to provide free books to schools. They even have their very own dragon mascot Roary pictured left! Thank you to everyone who took part in our Reading Adventure!
By buying books with us as part of the adventure it meant we could donate even more books to local schools! Our Reading Adventure and school book donations are on hold just now whilst Georgia concentrates on her new baby bookseller (and existing toddler bookseller) and the booksellers concentrate on selling books from our new shop, but it’s something we hope to restart in 2024/2025, so watch this space!
There’s nothing more important than reading, and we’d love to work with your company to ensure local children get plenty of extra books to encourage the bookworms of the future. In 2025 we delivered over 20,000 books free to local schools for the World Book Day scheme and we hope to expand on this to reach 100,000 books in the coming years with more Dragon Libraries in local schools.
